"Pale pink and gold," the third kit with which Linares Deportivo pays tribute to Manolete
There was a buzz of anticipation in the city of Linares these days ahead of the announcement of the Linares Deportivo third kit, scheduled for this Thursday. And the result has exceeded all expectations after the spot was launched on social media, featuring a beautiful jersey honoring Manuel Rodríguez "Manolete."
"Linares, in pale pink and gold" was the slogan chosen by the club for the launch of this shirt, which commemorates the suit worn by the bullfighter on August 28, 1947, the afternoon he lost his life in the ring of his bullring. The tribute to the ill-fated bullfighter and to bullfighting has been tremendously well-received by the city's fans . "In just one hour, we've had 30,000 interactions on the tweet, something tremendous for a club like ours. The response has been overwhelming , and since we launched the spot, people haven't stopped calling and asking us when they can buy it. Some have told us they'll be queuing all night at the official store," the club's Communications and Marketing Department explained to EL MUNDO.

The spot , with a pasodoble in the background, begins with old images of Manolete before moving to the present in a dark room of the Hotel Cervantes - from which he left that day never to return - and recreating the moment in which 'Monster' was dressing before leaving for the bullring . The bullfighter chosen to give life to Manolete has been Curro Díaz , from Linares, who shares a curious coincidence with Manolete: his mother gave birth to him in the same room of the Hospital de los Marqueses de Linares where she died on August 28th. "Curro is a symbol of the city and this year he has been chosen as a Favorite Son of Linares ," say the club. And they also explain how the idea of making this tribute came about.
"We just had to look out the window... Our offices are across from the bullring, and you soon realize what bullfighting and Manolete represent for the city ." The tribute doesn't just end with the shirt, whose crest is embroidered like a bullfighter's suit, but the pants and socks are also inspired by Manolete's bullfighting suit in detail and embroidery. "A collector's gem," it goes on sale starting this Friday.

A few days ago, Linares Deportivo made headlines with the unveiling of its away kit, dedicated to Castulo , the Iberian-Roman city of Linares, to AS Roma, and to its eternal captain, Francesco Totti. The back of the crest features a quote from Totti, in which he calls for support for your hometown team and loyalty. "If you support the big teams before the team from your city or region, you don't like real football; you like winning."
In just 24 hours, 200 of this model's shirts were sold, with 33% of online orders coming from Italy, according to the club's social media accounts. The club hopes to surpass these numbers with Manolete's jersey.
